One of Kefalonia's rare natural wonders is Melissani Cave.

There is a lake within the B-shaped cave, which has two chambers and is only reachable by boat. Years ago, a natural roof collapsed in one of the cave's halls, allowing sunlight to flood the cavern and turning the whole space blue!

Discover Saint George's Castle

Up to the Middle Ages, the entire town was protected by the fortress's encircling walls, which were constructed in the 12th century. Despite years of seismic damage, the fortress's stunning remnants and a mediaeval Catholic church have survived. It was rebuilt during the Venetian Period.
